Archive full: replace the oldest

What exactly disappears when you choose "replace the oldest" with a full archive, and how to avoid the question.

iPhone · Android

Your subscription has a maximum number of videos. If you've reached it and you confirm a new recording, the app asks Video archive full what should happen.

The two choices

  • Replace oldest — the oldest video is permanently deleted and your new recording is saved.
  • Don't save — your new recording isn't saved. You stay on the check screen and can still make room first.

What "replace the oldest" does exactly

  • It concerns the oldest video on your whole account. If you have several golfers, that can be a video of another golfer, and on a shared account a video of someone else.
  • With the video, all swings on it disappear, along with their comparison, advice and any 3D view. This is permanent, just like a regular delete.
  • best shots are safe. A video that is set as a best shot doesn't count towards your maximum and is never eligible.
  • A golfer you added yourself who is left with no swings as a result disappears too.
  • If your new recording contains several swings and the phone trims them into separate videos, you need more spaces. The question then states the number, and exactly as many of the oldest videos are deleted as are missing.

Avoiding the question

  • Make room — delete a swing you no longer need yourself, or choose a best shot: from then on it no longer counts towards the maximum.
  • Stop being asked — turn on Full archive: automatically replace the oldest in Settings. The app then replaces the oldest without asking. It's off by default: nothing disappears unless you've chosen that yourself at some point.

Without a connection

Without a connection, the app uses the last known state of your archive. If you then choose to replace, the deletion happens as soon as you have a connection again, before the new recording is sent. The oldest video is then deleted too, even if room has been made in another way in the meantime.
