No. An ordinary smartphone is enough. SwingIQ works with the camera and microphone your device already has — no sensors on your club, no mat, no launch monitor. The higher your camera's frame rate, the more precisely the moment of impact is captured, but it works with an ordinary recording too.
Put your phone on a bag, a trolley or a small tripod, roughly at hip height and perpendicular to your swing direction. The app helps with a scan that checks whether you are properly in frame, and then starts recording by itself. So you do not have to walk back and forth to press a button.
From the side is most useful: that is where your posture, your turn and your ball position show best. More important than the exact angle is that you film from roughly the same position each time. SwingIQ compares your swing with your own earlier swing, and that works best when the camera viewpoint is comparable.
For each club type you mark one swing as your reference: the shot you feel was right. That stays your point of comparison until you replace it. As you improve you move that reference up — so SwingIQ always compares you with the best version of yourself at that moment, not with a fixed ideal.
Yes. Your recordings, your earlier swings and your analyses live on your device. On a course with poor reception you can record and review as normal; new recordings are sent as soon as there is a connection again. The analysis itself runs on the server, so that does need a connection at some point.
No, and that is deliberate. No two golfers have the same build, flexibility or range of movement, so a difference from a tour player often says little about what you can change today. SwingIQ compares you with your own best shot: a movement your body has demonstrably been able to make.
No. A good pro sees things no camera picks up and can make you feel something — no app can do that. What SwingIQ adds is context: what happened between two lessons, how consistent you were, and whether last time's advice stuck. You can also share your swings with your pro: they see the same analysis and draw on the picture what you should do differently.
Your recordings are visible only to you, and to whoever you share them with yourself. You can always withdraw sharing, and you can delete your videos at any moment. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is stored and for how long.
Yes. Under one account you can create several golfers, each with their own archive and their own best shots per club. How many golfers that is depends on your plan — a family package has a few, a package for golf professionals considerably more.
You record with the app on iPhone or Android. Reviewing, comparing and following your progress also works in the browser on a laptop or tablet, without installing anything.
You can start free with an account that includes the full analysis; the limit is on the number of golfers and the size of your archive. For the paid packages we get in touch after your request to go through the options — a request carries no cost or obligation.
Dutch, English, German, Spanish and French. That applies to the app, this site and the text of the analysis itself. The app follows your device language by default; you can set it to something else in the settings. Contributions from other members in the community are shown translated into your own language automatically.
Yes, on the site. You read experiences and tips from other golfers and from pros, you ask a pro a question — with a swing and the point of attention from your own analysis attached if you like — and if your pro has a group, you take part in it: tick off exercises, share swings, get answers. The community lives in the browser, not in the app; from the playback screen in the app you reach it with one tap.
Yes. Every contribution is screened before it becomes visible, and anything that does not pass comes back to you with a reason. In their own group the pro approves things themselves. You take part under a name you choose, and you can delete any contribution — and your whole community profile — at any time. Nobody is compared with anybody else; there are deliberately no leaderboards.
Read, rate contributions, reply to the editorial team's articles and ask a pro one question a month. Posting your own contributions, asking unlimited questions and taking part in your pro's group start with Basic — as does receiving videos and notes from your pro. Opening your own group, writing pro tips and drawing on swings belong to the pro plans.
