Storage: what counts

Your subscription counts videos, not swings. What counts, what doesn't, and how to make room.

iPhone · Android · Website

Your subscription has a maximum number of videos in your archive. You see the current count on Settings, and in the app also as a ring on Today.

What counts

  • One video is one slot, even if it contains several swings. Only when the app splits a recording with several shots into separate videos does each video take its own slot.
  • A received copy of a shared swing is a video of yours and counts.
  • All golfers together. The maximum applies to your whole account, not per golfer.

What doesn't count

  • Your best shots. A video of which a swing is set as the best shot doesn't count — as long as it is the best shot. If you choose a different best shot, the old video counts again.
  • Deleted videos. Gone is gone; the slot is free immediately.
  • Above your maximum. A new recording or a share request to accept is checked against the maximum right away. If you are above it in another way — for instance because you chose a different best shot and the old video counts again — you can't add anything new, and overnight SwingIQ sets aside the oldest videos until you are back at your maximum. Set-aside material is erased after 30 days; you get a notification, and making room brings it back. See what happens when my subscription changes.

When it's full

With a new recording or a share request to accept, you then get the choice: have the oldest video of your account permanently replaced, or not keep it. The rules for that are covered in archive full: replace the oldest.

Making room

  • Delete swings you no longer need. A video only disappears once the last swing on it is gone.
  • Choose a best shot per club: that video no longer counts.
  • A bigger subscription gives more slots; see my subscription.

Good to know

  • The count runs on the server. Without a connection, the app uses the last known count plus what you've recorded in the meantime.
  • Only videos count; marks, 3D models and analyses take up no slot.
