In Preferences, turn on the Golf course with recordings switch and save your preferences. At your next recording, your phone asks once whether SwingIQ may use your location while you're using the app.
What is recorded
- At the moment you confirm a recording, the app checks roughly where you are — rounded to about 110 metres. It is never stored more precisely than that.
- The server looks up the golf course for that spot. Only the name of the course is added to your swing, in your swing list after the duration.
- If it doesn't work — no permission, no reception, waiting too long — the recording simply continues, without a course. Recording never waits for it.
What doesn't happen
- Your exact position isn't stored or shared; not even with someone you share a swing with.
- An imported video gets no location.
- The app doesn't track you: the location is only requested at that one moment.
Good to know
- If you refuse the permission on your phone, the switch stays on but nothing happens. You can still give permission later in your phone's system settings.
- This setting lives on this device; on another phone you choose again.
