Recording from your Apple Watch

With your iPhone on a tripod you no longer have to walk back to it: the SwingIQ app on your Apple Watch lets you start and stop the recording and pass on the outcome of the shot. Your iPhone stays in charge; the watch only operates it.

Installing

1. Pair your Apple Watch with your iPhone as usual.
2. Put SwingIQ on the watch via the Watch app on your iPhone.
3. On your iPhone open Settings and check under Apple Watch whether the watch is ready.

Recording

1. Go through the scan on your iPhone as always. As soon as recording can begin, the watch shows a green start button.
2. Tap start on the watch. The app counts down according to Countdown before recording (at 0 the recording starts immediately) and you feel a tap per second. You can cancel on the watch or on the phone.
3. During the recording you feel a tap at the start; tap stop once the shot is over. Your iPhone then continues with the review of the recording.

Passing on the outcome

With Ask for the outcome after recording on, the watch asks after the recording how the shot went. One tap is enough; the choice travels the same way as on your iPhone. If you answer on the phone, the first answer wins.

Setting the wrist

Under Apple Watch use Wrist of your watch to choose which wrist you wear the watch on. Together with your handedness this decides how SwingIQ reads the wrist measurements.

Wrist measurement during recording

As soon as recording can begin, SwingIQ starts a golf workout on the watch. That keeps the watch's motion sensors measuring while your wrist is down during the shot; you then see the green workout icon on the watch. The first time, the watch asks your permission for this. After the recording the measurement is sent to your iPhone and the server and helps to pin down the moment of impact more precisely. When you leave recording, the workout stops by itself.

Good to know

• Without a connection to the iPhone the watch shows that at the bottom; recording then only works on the phone.
• The watch never shows your video or your analysis; use your iPhone or the website for that.
