Record anyway

What happens when you record while the frame isn't green yet.

iPhone · Android

The orange button records without everything being green. That's always allowed: the app never stops you. It only tells you that this recording is harder to compare.

When the button stays orange

  • You're not fully inside the frame. Part of your body can't be tracked then, and that part may be exactly where the difference with your best shot lies.
  • The phone is tilted. A few degrees of tilt looks, in the comparison, like a difference in your posture that isn't there.

A ball outside the ring doesn't turn the button orange. It only affects how reliably the app finds the ball again.

What the app does with it

  • The recording is processed and compared as usual, if there's a best shot for this club.
  • The position of the phone travels along with it. The analysis corrects for tilt as far as it can. If that doesn't fully work, the advice mentions the difference in setup separately, and differences that depend on the camera position count for half.
  • What the app saw during the scan, such as how you were standing and whether the ball was found, goes along with the recording as a quality signal.

When it makes sense

  • You have no room to step further back and are standing just outside the frame.
  • You're deliberately recording something other than a full swing.

Do you want to use this recording as your best shot later? Then it's better to record on green. Everything you record with that club afterwards is compared with it.
